Trinity College just announced that it’s now a tobacco free campus as of today.
The university confirmed the news earlier today, which also happens to be National No Smoking Day.
Trinity previously took steps towards banning smoking three years ago by creating a number of tobacco-free zones around the campus.
After today’s announcement, there’s now only two places on the edge of the campus, by College Park, where smoking will still be allowed.

Martina Mullin, who is a health promotion officer at Trinity, said the rules won’t be enforced with fines or anything like that, “but people will be requested not to smoke”.
She added, “Research has found that it is more likely to be effective when people are encouraged not to smoke rather than punished for not complying.
“There will always be a certain cohort who will continue to smoke.”
