Child Protection Awareness Ireland released a 25-minute video which shows them restraining a man who they believe was on his way to meet a 14-year-old girl that he had allegedly groomed.
There is two facebook videos, the first shows the group filming and chatting with the man in question and the second shows a garda car with the alleged paedophile in the car.
Gardaí confirmed to The Irish Mirror that a male in his 40s was arrested at Heuston Station and taken to Kilmainham Garda station but was released without charge.
The group claimed that the man had been working under a false name and was actually in fact called something else.
They asked the public to leave his family alone as they are "completely innocent and knew nothing about his online activities."
During the first video, the group read out alleged quotes from a conversation that took place between the male and the fictional 14-year-old.
